Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - a process for welcoming adult inquirers to the Catholic Church.
Purpose: to assist prospective Catholics to become active members of the faith community and to revive the missionary spirit of all members.
It is divided into four periods of time:
Inquiry: Time to share stories, reflection on the place of God in our lives.
Catechumenate: Time to develop understanding of church teachings, participate in liturgy of the Word and to become active in the faith community.
Enlightenment and Purification: (Usually coincides with Lent) Time to deepen faith and prayer life Concludes with the sacraments of initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.
Mystagogia: Time to experience participation in the life of the faith community, share Eucharist, live and pray the gospel in daily life.

OCIC is for children who have completed second grade, but have not graduated from High School yet, and who have not received the sacraments of Baptism, First Reconciliation, or First Eucharist. These sessions are held on an individual basis as the need arises.
