The Renovation Team has been diligently working towards this Fund Drive for Phase 3. In order to be fiscally responsible with our funds, the Renovation Team DID NOT HIRE A FUNDRAISING COMPANY for this project. We will be able to use all funds raised for our building projects.
As we follow our Master Plan and listen to our fellow parishioners about what needs to be done next; we will be working on the addition of our GATHERING SPACE and RENOVATION of FOUNDERS’ HALL. We have added the HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE WALKWAY from our church to our school.
Kick-off for this latest fund drive began on October 20th with a Pledge Drive Kick-Off in Kennedy Hall. Our original plan was to be done on December 2nd; however, we have had to adjust the end date because we have not yet been able to reach all of our fellow parishioners. If you would like to assist us in raising the needed funds please call the parish office to have a pledge sheet sent or download the pledge drive sheet and mail it to the parish office, bring it to the parish offices or drop it in the collection baskets at Mass.
Several people have asked why we didn’t add the gathering space when we renovated our church; our answer is that we didn’t have the money. The 2009 cost estimate we have for the construction of the Gathering Space and the remodeling of Founders’ Hall was $1,500,000.00. Now we have estimates from $1,479,022.00 to $1,789,616.62 for the Gathering Space; estimates from $ 285,645.00 to $405,425.00 for Founders’ Hall and estimates from $ 236,000 to $374,000.00 to complete the handicapped portion of the project. You might think WOW – these numbers have quite a range $2,000,667.00 to $2,949,000.00 (including architect fees)! The cost variances are because we don’t have a start date, or finishes chosen.
There have been some changes at the Diocese, when we completed our first two phases we were required to have 50% of the total cost in cash and 50% of the total cost in pledges. The Diocese of Winona now requires that we have 75% of the total cost in cash and 25% of the total cost in pledges. That means we really need you to not only give us cash now; we need you to make a pledge over the next 3 years to insure that we raise the needed funds. Three generous donors gave us a cash challenge that worked wonderfully. They each gave $10,000 if we could raise $20,000 in cash. Their efforts combined with generous parishioners started the cash in our savings account with $90,000!
As in our past building projects we need your support to fulfil God’s plan for our parish. Join your fellow parishioners in assisting us to complete Phase 3 of our Master Plan.
